We’ll be making Challah and Babka again this year for the holidays! As with all of our baking, they are kosher, and vegan, and this special bread is also organic, sesame-free, and baked in our nut-free facility. These specials are only available by special order, directly from our bakery.

We are offering a Standard Braided Loaf, a Round Raisin Crown Loaf, and a Cinnamon Babka.

Orders must be placed by September 19th for pick up on September 24th for Rosh Hashanah, and by September 29th for pick up on October 3rd for Yom Kippur.

Our September Cupcake of the Month is… Apple Crumble Pie

This cupcake was such a hit last autumn that we’ve brought it back this year. Sometimes in life, we have to make tough decisions, but “Should I eat cake or pie today?” need not be one of them! This unique cupcake combines these two desserts into one ultra delicious, moist, sweet, cinnamony, package.

Our cupcakes are baked in our nut-free bakery, and of course are dairy free, egg free, and free of preservatives and refined sugars. Our September Muffin of the Month is… Coconut Sugar-Sweetened Apple!

This muffin combines the rich caramel flavour of coconut sugar with a touch of cinnamon, baked apples, and a sugar-encrusted slice baked right on top. It’s soft, moist, and delicious enough that you’ll want another even before you’ve finished the first one!

We’re so excited to see old  friends, and meet many new ones at the The Veg Food Fest this weekend at the Harbourfront in Toronto.

The Veg Food Fest is Nearly Upon Us!

We’re getting excited for the Veg Food Fest, coming up September 5-7th at Harbourfront Centre in downtown Toronto.

Admission is free, and in addition to the cooking demos, talks, and live music, we’ll in our booth with lots of fun new treats as well as our signature items. Come visit and say hi!

If you want to get a jump on the festivities, try a special Food Fest edition Mojito cupcake! It features a sparkling slice of candied lime, a layer of lightly sweetened fluffy mint creme frosting, and a tangy lime filling with a hint of mint and rum. They’re 90% organic! Our limited edition Mojito cupcakes are available at restaurants and retailers including all four Fresh locations, Ambrosia Thornhill, The Big Carrot, and Nature’s Emporium (Maple and Newmarket). We’ll have them at the festival, as well, but you can order them directly through us in the meantime.

According to food lore, when Amish farmers would discover these treats in their lunch pails, they’d shout “Whoopie!” Now you’ll have the opportunity to do the same (though you may get some funny looks from your fellow diners at Fresh).

We’ve been busy, and as if we didn’t have enough delicious treats to keep you busy, add our new Whoopie Pies to your must-try list. If you enjoy marshmallow cream-filled chocolate cookie sandwiches (who doesn’t?), this one’s for you. It’s just the right size to have after a meal — or any time, of course!

A Peek Behind the Scenes: The Making of Our New Berry Pie Crumble Square

Summer tastes like fresh berries, and the berry-lovers out there will love what we’ve been busy making. It’s the Berry Pie Crumble Square, and here’s how we do it:

First, we roll out an organic spelt flour crust

We mix together some juicy wild blueberries, strawberries and raspberries, stir in a little bit of organic evaporated cane juice, and spread the berries evenly over the crust.

Next, we cover the berries with a topping of organic rolled oats and cinnamon.

And make sure that the topping is easily spread.

Finally, we bake it, cut it into pieces, and enjoy.

We’re continuing to bake the same delicious recipe this month, only switching strawberries for perfectly tart raspberries. Enjoy a raspberry filling in our classic vanilla cupcake batter, with a swirl of creamy raspberry icing on top.
