The only thing better than one dessert is two desserts!

We think our Cookies ‘n’ Cream Cupcake is pretty great on its own – a moist chocolate and vanilla cupcake, with light, whipped vanilla “buttercream” icing swirled with decadent double chocolate chip cookies pieces. But the bonus is there’s a mini double chocolate chip cookie that sits on top! (YUM). These trendy bite-sized sweet treats on a stick have been popping up on dessert tables across the nation. They make a great afternoon treat, perfect for your kid’s birthday party, for your next corporate event, or even your wedding.

Cake-Pop

Although word is still out on who put the first cake ball on a stick, no one can argue that it was baker blogger Bakerella who took them to a whole other level! Her creativity and artistry had everyone sharing, pinning, and posting pictures of her beautiful cake pops across the web and across the world. The good news is you don’t actually have to be a master baker to whip up these treats yourself!

The secret recipe:

  1. Choose your cupcakes. Pick your favourite flavour, anything goes!
  2. Roll into balls. Scrape off the icing, and leave to the side. Squish the cupcakes in your hands and roll into tight balls.
  3. Stick them in the fridge or freezer. Best to let them chill and harden a bit before icing.
  4. Pop a stick in it. Stick lollipop sticks into your chilled cake balls.
  5. Ice your pops. Roll your cake pop into the icing that you saved from your cupcake. Stir up the icing to soften it – it works best when the icing is at room temperature.
  6. Enjoy!

Our September Cupcake of the Month is… Apple Crumble Pie

This cupcake was such a hit last autumn that we’ve brought it back this year. Sometimes in life, we have to make tough decisions, but “Should I eat cake or pie today?” need not be one of them! This unique cupcake combines these two desserts into one ultra delicious, moist, sweet, cinnamony, package.

We’re getting excited for the Veg Food Fest, coming up September 5-7th at Harbourfront Centre in downtown Toronto.

Mojito-Cupcake-(lo-res)-(August-September-2014)

If you want to get a jump on the festivities, try a special Food Fest edition Mojito cupcake! It features a sparkling slice of candied lime, a layer of lightly sweetened fluffy mint creme frosting, and a tangy lime filling with a hint of mint and rum. They’re 90% organic! Our limited edition Mojito cupcakes are available at restaurants and retailers including all four Fresh locations, Ambrosia Thornhill, The Big Carrot, and Nature’s Emporium (Maple and Newmarket). We’ll have them at the festival, as well, but you can order them directly through us in the meantime.


Our feature flavour of the month is… S’mores!

The last full month of summer means that it’s time to enjoy a few more summer parties, beach days, and evenings gathered around the campfire before the colder weather creeps in. We’re shining a spotlight on our favourite late-summer treat, the S’mores Cupcake, which blends the classic elements of a spelt graham base, a rich chocolate cake, marshmallow cream filling and topping, and a drizzle of chocolate.

Summer tastes like fresh berries, and the berry-lovers out there will love what we’ve been busy making. It’s the Berry Pie Crumble Square, and here’s how we do it:

First, we roll out an organic spelt flour crust

We mix together some juicy wild blueberries, strawberries and raspberries, stir in a little bit of organic evaporated cane juice, and spread the berries evenly over the crust.

Next, we cover the berries with a topping of organic rolled oats and cinnamon.

And make sure that the topping is easily spread.

Finally, we bake it, cut it into pieces, and enjoy.
